Warwick Town Bonfire Cancelled

Warwick Town Bonfire Committee have finally conceded defeat and announce they are cancelling  this year’s Bonfire and Firework show at Warwick Racecourse due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Hoping against hope that the outbreak was receding, the new restrictions brought in this weekend made it clear that it would have been irresponsible to encourage crowds to converge on the racecourse at this time. Social distancing was going to be impossible to introduce or enforce, and public safety has to be our priority.

Warwick Town Bonfire raises thousands of pounds for Warwick Lions and Warwick Rotary clubs who have been organising the event for nearly 30 years. The proceeds are re-cycled into their support for local charities. Now that both Carols at the Castle and the Bonfire have been called off both clubs are looking for other ways to continue to support good causes.

Lions and Rotary continue to meet regularly on Zoom with speakers and local projects and welcome new members. If you are interested in helping your local community or learning more, contact them either on Facebook or on-line.

The Bonfire will return in 2021 with a show by Fantastic Fireworks, and the organisers thank all our sponsors and hosts Warwick Racecourse for their support.
